Bay Horse Designs started its humble beginning with a few paintings I completed for a couple friends. After some support and encouragement from those friends, my husband and family members, Bay Horse was born. I have said from the start I wanted my work to be "something different." Thus, the idea of painting on things that can be used in the home or tack room setting came to be. I will do paintings that can be framed and hung on the wall but there is always a twist... no plain artist canvas here... my choice? Wood or leather.
I can do paintings of any breed of horse, if it's a horse and it is loved, it doesn't matter what bloodline it comes from. My beloved big boy "Chief" for whom I named my business after is a perfect example... He is a "you take a guess breed" and everyone loves him (and also loves guessing about his past and bloodline!) If you would like to take a guess I would love to hear it! Sure wish horses could literally talk to us so we would know. "Chief" looks like he has lots to tell.
On the website currently are many examples of paintings of the Arabian breed... I had a booth set up at both the Arabian Youth Nationals and the U.S. Nationals. As you can imagine I needed lots of paintings of Arabians and I have been completing many commissioned pieces. I will be setting up shop at more shows though out this year at different breed and discipline events. Click on the events tab to see where "Bay Horse Designs" will be. If I am in your area please come by and visit.
Bay Horse Designs has a simple goal: To create a custom piece of artwork, just for you, that will be treasured for many years to come.
I understand the deep emotional bond we have with our equine companions and I hope to capture that love in my paintings.
Every horse on this planet is a wonderful, loving, majestic animal that God put on this Earth for our enjoyment and it is our responsibility to love and care for these great creatures.

This is me at a state park in Vermont. This little butterfly just stopped by for a quick visit!

This is John and his horse "Slick" during one of our many snowfalls last winter (2006) in Bosque Farms NM.

My horse "Chief" in Bosque Farms NM.

Ever have one of those days when you just need a NAP!?!?! This is the real "Boss".... Corky Lou.

This is "Concho". He is an older JRT that we rescued. This was taken right after we brought him home last Jan. 06. He had been an outside dog, left to die in the cold snowy winter of 06 with no food and no water. Some people that lived nearby his "home" took him in. We adopted him 2 weeks later. He took to being in a warm house right away. He has since put on weight, got some much needed medical attention and is now a happy and spoiled JRT!
This is "Ozzy". He was also a dog in need of a home. We adopted him while living in Texas 2003. He is a large black lab mix, who knows with what, he looks mostly black lab with a little white on the back of each foot and a tiny white spot on his chest. He is a lot of fun, a little goofy, but sweet!
This is me in the studio, with my two Jack Russells and one Black Lab. JRT's are Corky Lou and Concho. The Lab is Ozzy. They love to hang out in the studio with "mom".

This is my wonderful big bay gelding that I named my business after...("Bay Horse Designs".) His name is Manhattan Mischief...aka Chief.

This is John's (my husband) super fun Quarter Horse gelding. His name is One Slick Peppy...aka Slick. (or "Fireball" depending what kind of mood he is in that day!)

Here we are with the boys at a fun show held in Bosque Farms, NM in Feb. of 07. It was a costume class with a theme of "Go Hawaiian". I rode bareback in the class because "a saddle would take away from the whole outfit." The boys were awesome!

This was taken at John's first Dressage Schooling show in Nov. of 2005. He is riding Chief. John was a little bit nervous before his first test... but then he came out of the ring with a big smile on his face and said "That was GREAT! I can't wait to do it again!" Now that is what it is suppose to be all about!
We should all be that happy when coming out of the ring no matter what we show and no matter how we did...
We should be happy we were THERE and that we were blessed with one more day with our HORSES!
