18" x 12" wood panel

This is a very special piece. It is a portrait of a beloved mare that was lost way to soon.
IN LOVING MEMORY TO
SF BINT KAHRABA

This portrait is on an 8 inch by 8 inch artist panel. "Looking Back" is done with acrylic and is sealed (varnished) for protection. This piece can hang on a wall as it is, or it can be framed. This piece also looks great sitting in an easel on a desk, table or bookshelf.
~~~Adoption fee is $100.00 plus shipping.~~~
************THIS IS A COMMISSIONED PIECE**************
14" wood table top
This is "Olly" a beautiful Friesian stallion owned by Bonny of Colorado. Recently I donated a portrait in an auction to benefit the Equestrian Theater and Performance Art Association. Bonny won the portrait! A big thank you to Bonny and Olly for providing me with the joy of painting this stunning fellow.
This is a fun yet functional piece! This is a palomino "show pony" on a wooden panel that is the lid to a lovely basket. The lid measures
7.5" x 10" and the basket is 5" tall.
The adoption fee for "Show Pony" basket is
$55.00 plus shipping
This is a lovely addition to any home, office or tack room. This is a wooden veneer box, if looked at from the side it resembles a big book. I like how the bay coloring compliments with the "burl wood" look around him. The inside of the box is completely lined with a deep brown crushed velvet fabric.
This box measures 14 inches long by 10.5 inches across by 3.5 inches tall. The painted area is 10 inches by 5.5 inches.
"Bay Burl" is looking for his forever home.
~~~Adoption fee is $125.00 plus shipping.~~~

What a fun accent piece! Perfect to display a trophy, award, vase or scuplture. I created this ribbons and bits table while at my booth during the U.S. Arabian and Half Arabian Nationals, October 18-28 2007, in Albuquerque New Mexico.

It has a wooden top and base with a three sided decorative metal stand. The top measures 14 inches across. The total height of this piece is 33 inches tall. I applied 3 coats of a furniture grade protective sealer.

This would make a wonderful gift for that special trainer or a "champion friend".
~~~This table sells for $200.00 plus shipping.~~~
"Shadow" is a striking black stallion on a green and black leather trunk. This is a perfect piece to store award ribbons or show coolers. The front straps have faux buckles, they actually snap closed, the same with the middle latch. The inside and bottom is painted black wood. This is the last green leather trunk I have on hand. The measurements for the trunk are 24 inches long by 14 inches wide by 14.5 inches tall. There are two coats of protective sealer over the painted area on the trunk.
~~~The adoptopn fee for "Shadow" is $295.00 plus shipping.~~~
I would like to show the work in progess of "Shadow" because of the dramatic transformation he takes during the painting process.

The photo above shows the first basecoat. You can also see the straps and latch better in this photo.

This photo I started to bring in some highlights and shading. He looks like a ghost horse at this point in the process!

I have given the nose area some detail and started defining the facial structure.

the finished piece.

This is one of my favorite pieces! It was a joy to watch the golden chestnut come to life on this particular finish.

He has been welcomed into a new "stable" in Bosque Farms NM. Oct 2007.

I can paint more of these tables, or any other type of table with the horse of your choice. For example; a portrait of your special horse or your favorite breed, color, etc...
~~~The adoption fee for a table like this one is $795.00.
Plus shipping.~~~
Below are some pictures I took during the painting process. The first thing I did is to establish a base coat of shades and develop on them. Next some detail starts to come in... on this peice I started with his nose and mouth.
I then moved on to bringing in the eye and muscle structure along with veins, shading and some highlights. The blue that you see is just some painters tape to help as I began on the mane, I like to bring in the mane almost hair by hair, with multi-layers of dark and light to give the mane depth...
I thought I was finished with the one on the left... however, when I came back to it the next day, it wasn't quite what I wanted... I felt the horse in real life was deeper, richer and more affectionate. I also wanted to bring out the warmth of the colors that are in the table... so I decided on a "gold wash" over the entire horse... a big gamble after putting about 15 hours of work into the horse so far. If that did not work it would have to be sanded down and I would have had to start over from a bare table!
It worked! There in front of me was the passionate, warm, regal stallion I was hoping to capture. I left him to bask in the work light of my studio over night. Over the next four days applied 4 coats of a fine furniture grade sealer on the entire table to protect him from the elements.
This beautiful wooden bench was a fun, yet challenging piece to paint! I wanted to capture the glow of moonlight to illuminate some areas of this liver chestnut while the rest of him fades into the background of the rich dark stain on the bench.
The bench measures 30 inches long by 11 inches across by 17.5 inches tall. I applied 4 coats of a fine furniture grade sealer to protect the painting.
"Moonlight" is looking for a loving home.
~~~ His adoption fee is $500.00 plus shipping. ~~~

"Moonlight" has been adopted and is moving in with "Sunrise" in Bosque Farms, NM.

As you scroll down this page you will see many examples of the artwork I have created. All pieces are custom one of a kind creations. I emphasize that all items are "one of a kind" because each one is individually hand-painted. These are NOT mass produced! I can paint another chestnut arab on a drop leaf table, but it will never be EXCATLY the same. This is what makes my work so unique.
There are many items of home decor that can become a teasured piece of artwork that is personalized just for you.
Examples include: vases, tables, benches, shelf units, coffee table boxes, jewelery boxes, picture frames, lamps, magazine racks, headboards, etc... the list is only as short or as long as your imagination! If the item has a porous surface, such as; wood, ceramics, pottery, leather etc... If the area is mostly flat and not too textured and can be sealed with a waterproof protectant I can paint on it.
Below are some quick samples of what you will see on the site.

These items are to be seen as examples of what can be done and perhaps spark an imaginative thought for that odd little end table that has been sitting around your house collecting dust... yes, you could send it along with a picture of your favorite horse to me and in return get a "one of a kind" treasured family heirloom to hand down to further generations. Or what about a beautiful ceramic vase to be the special memorial of your beloved equine companion that has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge? Need an extra ordinary gift to present to your devoted and trusted trainer, vet, farrier or friend? A custom leather trunk to hold all your precious ribbons and awards? Go ahead be creative! Be original! Contact me via email or phone. I would be delighted to help you design that "one of a kind" home decor item.
